Free your voice and make new friends in a relaxed, playful atmosphere…

Singing gives you wings!Singing with others is a great way to have fun and it’s good for you! Music Birds Exeter are a growing, amateur SATB choir (Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, Basses) with between 30-35 members. A typical music bird session will start with a physical and vocal warm-up, getting us to relax into the voice and breathe. We then learn a simple part song or sing a beautiful harmony exercise to get the voices going. After that, we’ll be learning longer songs and arrangements, with the aim to create each evening as a complete experience in itself. The emphasis is on singing as a felt experience and allowing the body to respond to the music, feet tapping, clapping, clicking and movement is all encouraged!

We sing an eclectic mix of music from rock and roll through gospel, motown, country and pop. Most songs are taught by ear so there is no need to read music, but if you do read music or want to learn how, notation is available!

Although the emphasis is on singing with each other as a complete experience in itself, we also open out to do a couple of performances during the year, Christmas and Summer, to share what we do with friends and family and raise some money for charity.
